In a recent N.J. Law Journal article, it was disclosed that the “Alcotest” – the instrument used to obtain oral breath samples – will soon be phased out of use.

The machine is manufactured by a company in Texas, Draeger Safety Diagnostics, and the warranty on this product will expire in three years. Thus as of 2016 a new breath test will be needed by the State.
